Robert “Boston Rob” Carlo Mariano, born December 25, 1975 in Boston, Mass., made his television debut in 2002 on the hit CBS show Survivor: Marquesas. Rob’s compelling performance resulted in a repeat appearance on Survivor: All Stars, where he was the runner-up to his wife-to-be, Amber Brkich. Rob proposed to Amber during the live finale of “All Stars,” and the two were married in front of millions of viewers during a two-hour CBS prime-time special, “Rob and Amber Get Married.”Rob has been a contestant on two additional Survivor seasons, Heroes vs. Villains, in 2010, and 2011’s Redemption Island, on which he won the title of “Sole Survivor.” In 2019, he was asked back as a Mentor in season 39 Survivor: Island of the Idols. That same year, Rob competed once again for a record 6th time alongside his wife on the epic 40th season of Survivor: Winners at War. Having completed 188 days spent on the island throughout his Survivor career. He is also a two-time competitor, along with Amber, on the multi-Emmy-award-winning CBS show The Amazing Race. Rob has also starred in his own regular CBS Early Show segment, Rob to the Rescue.
Between their two appearances on The Amazing Race, Rob and Amber filmed a 10-episode show for the Fox Reality Channel, “Rob and Amber: Against the Odds,” which aired in 2007. Set in Las Vegas, the program followed Rob’s attempt to become a professional poker player under the tutelage of poker champion Daniel Negreanu. Rob also served as executive producer of the show, putting his years of experience in television to good use by trying his hand on the production side of things.
Over the years Rob has hosted various television events and shows, including ABC’s The Split, UPN’s The Player, Sci-Fi’s Sci-Fi Investigates, and the 2007 mega-reward reality show, Tontine, which never aired and Around the World in 80 Ways for the History channel in 2012.
Recently he has focused his attention on his home renovation projects, spending time with his family, and pursuing other entrepreneurial projects.
Rob has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boston University. He is an avid golfer and poker player, and, as you can probably guess, a huge fan of all things Boston. Whether it’s the Patriots, the Bruins, the Celtics or his beloved Red Sox, you can always find him rooting on his hometown team. Of course, being Italian, he loves food and enjoys playing chef for his five favorite girls—his wife, Amber, and his four young daughters, Lucia Rose, Carina Rose, Isabetta Rose, and Adelina Rose.
